I think this is an excellent value--it won't do color printing, but I'm sick of getting ripped off for ink cartridges: I'm willing to settle for grayscale.
The scanner is quite slow, but if you make sure to check the box "Display the Scanner Driver," you'll find pretty competent scanning functionality.
The warm-up time is amazingly fast, and the copy functions are solid. I haven't tried the fax functions.

I recently bought the Canon imageCLASS MF3240. So far I have only used it for copying but everything comes out very clear. It was very easy to install. Print is black and white only but if color isn't an issue, it's great.
It's not Mac Compatible and I'm really annoyed! November 20, 2008

I bought this for my home office and it seemed like a dream when I made some excellent photocopies, but I went to print and soon realized it's not Mac compatible. I don't think this was made clear enough when I ordered it from Amazon. Now I have to lug the enormous box to the post-office and figure out what to do next. And I still don't have a printer!

I have had this multi-function for about one year. Its a solid choice for a basic, well-performing laser machine.
Its very fast to print first page -- no long warm-up required.
Drivers for Vista work fantastic.
