Amazon.com Product Description
Note: The Canon i9100 is no longer being manufactured. You may want to consider purchasing the newer Canon i9900 photo printer instead.

The ultimate edge-to-edge borderless photo printer--from 4-by-6 snapshots to breathtaking 13-by-19-inch posters--the i9100 makes them big, fast, and beautiful. Designed to bring professional quality photo printing to the home, the i9100 from Canon is a lightweight printer that delivers high-quality prints and comes with a reasonable price tag. Able to handle a wide variety of media, including plain paper, T-shirt transfers, envelopes, transparencies, and Canon specialty papers, this versatile printer also supports paper sizes up to 13 by 19 inches.

Individual ink tanks save money, reduce waste.
The 4,800 x 1,200 dpi (black and color) maximum resolution is achieved with Canons advanced MicroFine Droplet technology, which utilizes 3,072 print nozzles. Each nozzle delivers ultra-small 4 picoliter droplets to provide exceptionally detailed prints rivaling those of a professional photo lab. The i9100 is capable of producing borderless prints for a truly professional look, while a 6-ink cartridge system helps to save both money and the environment by letting you change just one color at a time.

Weighing 17.6 pounds, the i9100 has a footprint of 22.5 by 13.1 inches and emits about 37 dB of noise in best quality mode. The i9100 connects to your host computer via its USB port. The software bundle helps you to get the most out of your prints with programs including Easy-PhotoPrint, PhotoStitch, ImageBrowser, and more. PC and Mac compatible, the i9100 also comes backed with a one year limited warranty on both parts and labor.

5 out of 5 stars Not for idiots--everyone else, this is awesome!   September 10, 2004

I've used this printer for home use and it is simply stunning...I bought it to print true "photographic" quality prints and it comes through in spades. At the same time I purchased a Canon EOS Digital Rebel. It is amazing to capture 6 Mega-pixel images and then be able to print them in poster size.
The title of my review refers to those who have submitted bad reviews...those are certainly not indicative of the quality of this product...only the inadequacy of the user. (Well OK, I will give a pass to those Mac users who may have had issues with compatibility...on that I cannot comment). But some of the other reviews...one is not even for this printer (instead he reviews an old S3000 printer) another can't find paper (hello??? McFly! How about search Amazon Electronics on the term "13x19 paper"....you'll have about 50 choices). 'Nuff said...this printer rocks.
And I, like many others, had always been an HP or Epson purchaser in the past...I couldn't be more pleased with my choice.

4 out of 5 stars Almost Great   June 22, 2004

This is a great printer, but no one, including Canon carries 13"x19" card-stock paper. I bought this printer with idea that I'ld be able to print my own 13x19 colored signs (100 at a time) but alas, no paper is available.

3 out of 5 stars Epson user switches to Canon   May 17, 2004

+: Wide format, fairly affordable (especially since the recent price drop), Print heads are less troublesome than on Epson models, ink tanks seem to last longer than with Epson printers (maybe because I am not cleaning them constantly), it's quiet, makes nice photos, and my favorite - print head assembly is replaceable!

-: Annoying to customize settings in OS X.. actually, I haven't been able to choose a custom paper size yet, sometimes output is enlarged (I know - weird, right?), had problems with saving color settings, prints like crap on plain or non-inkjet art paper (Epson is better here).

5 out of 5 stars New Canon printers will be shipped...   May 8, 2004

i9100 prices dropped because the new i9900 will come out between May 10 - 21 (2004). i9100 are great but if you can wait, it looks like the new i9900s will be better with 2-picoliter droplets, 4800x2400 dpi printing, 8 ink system (CMYK, PC,PM, Red,Blue) almost doubling the print nozzles, and USB & Firewire connection. Sorry this is not a review but just a head up for those who like to get latest so they don'g get stuck with buying an older model.
