This is the lightest EF lens of all at a mere 4.6 oz. (130g). Compact and high-performance, standard lens. Its Gaussian optics provide sharp delineation from near to far focusing distances. The color balance is excellent for a standard lens.

5 out of 5 stars Great lens for the price.   September 8, 2010
Michael Joseph (St. Louis, MO)
I tired out this lens over the Holiday weekend & I have to say for the price I paid it was well worth it. $100.00 was a lot nicer to pay than $299.00. I am still a little concerned about the plastic housing other than that this is a great buy. I would still like the $299.00 lens but this will do the job until I can afford the more expensive one. I highly recommend this lens it is a great PRIME LENS TO HAVE.

5 out of 5 stars Great item - terrible shipping!   September 3, 2010

I opted for the free super saver shipping method, which normally is prompt and delivered early. I ordered this item on a Sunday and it didn't arrive until the Tuesday of the next week! I used the tracking mechanism and watched my package go to three different cities around where I live. I am from Cincinnati and it came from Indiana (next door), down to Lexington, KY, and around to Grove City, OH.

I don't know who messed up the shipping/tracking of this package but I was not happy.

Overall, I love the item, but was dissapointed with the shipping.

5 out of 5 stars best bang for your buck   September 1, 2010

This lens is a great investment for ~$100. It's a great prime lens to carry around if you don't feel like dragging around all your lenses. Size is great and photos are fantastic, especially for the price. Portraits and low-light shots are especially great with this lens. AMAZING bokeh can be produced! Just need to get used to the fact that u can't zoom with it. Addition of filters makes it even more amazing.

5 out of 5 stars Great Lens, great price, "Toy-like" build.   August 31, 2010

Awesome lens considering its price. A must-have item for all Canon users. DOF is amazing, works wonders when working in HD Movie mode or even the EOS movie hack.

The body feels like a toy, so do your best not to drop this baby. Many say that the AF is a bit loud, but I could care less...it gets the job done.

Photo Quality: Amazing!

4 out of 5 stars Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens   August 31, 2010

For the money you can't go wrong. It is light and feels cheap but it takes great photos. I am able to take some great shots in very low light without flash using this lens. It gives me a lot of versatility in low light situations. You can't go wrong buying this lens.
