| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The wide zoom range of the EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM makes this a perfect lens for almost any situation. Its sixteen-element design includes two aspherical elements, and it focuses as close as 17.7 inches (45 cm) throughout the entire zoom range, even at the 28mm wide-angle zoom setting. Inner focusing means the front section doesn't rotate, a real benefit to photographers who use filters. Fast and quiet AF - an EOS hallmark - is provided by Canon's exclusive micro USM.
Amazon.com Product Description EOS users looking for an all-purpose lens would do well to select the Canon EF 28-200 f/3.5-5.6 USM. The minimum aperture setting is f/22 at a focal length of 28mm, and the EF 28-200 has a minimum focus distance of 17.7 inches at any focal length. An inner focus ring allows the EF 28-200 to focus without rotating the outer half of the lens barrel, which is great for photographers who utilize filters. The autofocus uses Canon's micro USM drive for smooth and quiet operation.

Good Overall Lens November 26, 2008 rjgsphinx (Marietta, GA) This is a good lens for all around shooting, especially outside. It does well in bright light but blurs badly in low light. With a tripod it does OK but this would not be my recommendation for inside or low light shooting without a flash. However for an all around carry lens at a reasonable price this is great.
the zoom range makes it really nice.
Lens, great buy for the $$!! August 9, 2008 A. Santana (Somewhere, AR United States) I bought this to go with the new Rebel I bought. EXCELLENT lens, makes the camera look and feel and best of all, take photos like a much higher-end camera. Highly recommend!
1 lens for many events July 12, 2008 S. dehner (dover de) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i bought this lens to use on vacation or other when i didn't want to carry 2 lenses. this lens does that - i know some of the reviews stated that this lens was not the quality they were looking for but so far, i have seen that. pro - it's canon, and it covers a lot of range con - it is a heavier lens
Great Lense June 13, 2008 James P. Graham (Loveland, CO USA) This is a great mid range zoom lense with the wide angle of a 28mm. I use this lense with my Canon 40D. It has very good optics and is very easy to use. A very good value.
Great lens June 1, 2008 Nightwolf (Chicago) This is great lens that i use all the time. There is only one problem i had and that is dust. After less then a year i got one big peace of dust on the inside of the lens that cost over $100 to have removed. As long as you take care not to let this happen it is a great lens to have.
