4 out of 5 stars Love it but I broke the battery-"door"   May 8, 2010
Cami Waldeck
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this simple camera. I have gone through at least 10 digital cameras in the past 2 years (all were stolen or broken purposefully by a*holes...) and now I have 2 digital cameras plus the one on my Blackberry... recording equipment of any kind is like a weapon I use, instead of real weapons... (Nikon Coolpix L19 and a Canon 10.1, very similar to the Nikon but actually I like the Nikon better. They are around the same price/look.)

I love this camera so much and USE it so much that I am willing to TAPE the darn battery-door shut to make it work... I know the latch can be fixed somehow but I don't have $ to fix it and when I do get $, I am robed. I know, the world IS out to get me. But I'm be out to get the world really soon.

The ironic thing is, the latch that keeps the memory card in my Canon does not work, but the latch that keeps the battery/mem. card area closed does work... the mem. cards stay in my Nikon fine.

Anyhow, I love the video ability of the Nikon and its ease of use with everything else. I DO like the AA battery vs. lithium battery; I lose the lithium batteries and they cost my too much to replace. I WOULD sell my Nikon for a very inexpensive rate if I could buy a new one exactly the same; or I'd barter it out along with whatever, for a new, unopened perfect Nikon CoolpixL19 8MP. Anyone interested, email me at [...]

3 out of 5 stars Mediocre camera   March 6, 2010
~Ariel~ (Williamsburg, VA)
This is my first digital camera and overall it's not very impressive. I like that it was relatively inexpensive(paid $97.87), has a large display, and has features that are easy to use. The batteries seem to last a reasonable amount of time (I use 2 AA rechargeables). However, I expected a better quality camera from Nikon and if I had to do over I would try to find one with less annoyances. They are:

(-) Blurry pics- It works fine outdoors on a sunny day, but indoor pictures are touchy. I find the "smile" setting to be the best for indoor/outdoor and dark lighting. Auto mode is terrible.

(-)Lens error- Not the most durable camera. Dropped it once on carpet and the lens jammed. It still works (for now), but it takes a while for the lens to open and makes a lot of clicking noises. Probably not a good buy if you are the slightest bit clumsy. Amazon sells cases for $6 Premium Digital Camera Zipper Eva Pouch Carrying Case - 10 Color Available for Nikon Coolpix L19, L20, S220, S230, S620, S630, S710, S610c, S610, S560, S60, S600, S550, S520, S210, S52c, S52, S700, S510, S200, S51c, S51, S50c, S500, L18, L15, L12, L11, L10

(-)SD card slot placement- The SD card slot is in with the batteries, so if you want to take out the SD card the batteries fall out too.

(-)Delay- I've never had an expensive camera and it seems that all cheap ones have a few second delay. Not good for action shots.
