4 out of 5 stars Great rugged point-and-shoot   March 7, 2010
J. Russell Kinsey (Utah, USA)
I read some negative reviews about the picture quality, but so far this camera has taken good pictures with a minimum of talent, which in my opinion has always been the hallmark the Olympus Stylus line back to their 35mm cameras.
The flash is bright enough to take good pictures in a dark restaurant, but seemed to take a while to charge between photos. Night portraits are somewhat washed out, but I've always had this problem. The included Beauty mode can even out those colors a little at the expense of resolution.
My wife and I recently took the camera on our yearly snowshoeing trip, and there is no comparison the the photos taken previously. The tap function was especially convenient, as it allowed me to adjust the Macro setting and show others our on-screen photos without taking off my gloves to get to the controls. It's far slimmer than our previous camera and can be slipped into the pocket of a pair of jeans.
I found the menus to be well laid-out and intuitive. I would recommend playing with the tap mode at home to develop a little muscle memory. It was the only thing about the camera that I thought had a learning curve. Only time will tell if it's waterproof. We bought it to take with us on outdoor adventures, so we don't really plan on using it underwater.

Overall, I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

5 out of 5 stars I love this camera   March 1, 2010
Erica (MA)
I absolutely love this camera. The pictures come out great and there are so many options to choose from. I was able to play in the snow with my two year old and take pictures without worrying about getting the camera wet and breaking. The only thing I don't like about it is that sometimes when you try to take a picture it doesn't take the picture. Also inside the flash seems to make things too bright if its not on the right setting. Overall I would buy the camera again if something happened to mine. My favorite camera (and I've gone through a few...)

5 out of 5 stars AWESOME!   March 1, 2010

Great camera! Everything we thought it would be! Durable and indestructible. Takes great under water pics too!

4 out of 5 stars As advertised - Very satisfied!!!   February 23, 2010
Bruce (Bismarck, ND)
I bought and used this camera for our trip down to the BVI. I wanted a single camera that would be waterproof and constructed well enough to withstand being bumped around. I took over 200 pictures with it, both underwater and above water. I was very satisfied with how it functioned. I was very careful with the door seals and never experienced any problems from snorkeling in the ocean with it. I did rinse it in fresh water as advised but basically it bumped around in my pocket for most of the trip. The pictures it took were very acceptable and indeed better than the pictures I took with the Nikon Cool Pix (which is the camera it replaced). The only complaint I had was it took awhile to get used to the menus in the camera. It was strange fiddling with a digital camera underwater though. Just loved the convenience of a single camera and the underwater pictures were much better than those I took with a underwater film camera. The only complaint I really had was when you bring it out of the water many times there were water droplets on the lens which showed in the above water picture.
