5 out of 5 stars Fantastic camera!   October 11, 2008
Katie T.
I've had some cheap, not-so-great cameras in the past, then when I decided I really needed a quality product I bought this one. I couldn't be more pleased! The picture quality is really astounding. Even the video quality is beyond my expectations. There's so many settings it's almost overwhelming! But after reading the manual back and forth I finally understood all the amazing features (mostly, haha). My Dad has this camera too and he's not the technical type person to read manuals or change settings, so even he is able to take great pictures on auto mode.

The only con is that the batteries get sucked up like you wouldn't believe. But I recently ordered the Canon ACK-800 AC Adapter, which should charge the camera to avoid that.

Overall, I'm VERY pleased with my purchase and I would recommend it to anyone!

4 out of 5 stars Great Camera   September 30, 2008

A nice performing camera with a good zoom range. Could go a little wider, but the long end is great. Image quality is good.

If it were my primary camera, I would miss an optical viewfinder, but I'm mostly using this on a gigapan mount, and it does a nice job for that.

4 out of 5 stars GOOD CAMERA-GOOD PRICE   September 16, 2008

Canon does it again with a superb piece of equipment. I purchased this model because of it's use of AA batteries. Some of us photography enthusiasts still like replaceable batteries instead of the internal rechargeable ones. Photo quality is excellent. Its "smart" processor is one of a kind. Pop up flash also gives more direct control over the flash unit. The only drawback for me is the lack of a wider angle lens for close up group shots.

5 out of 5 stars It's great!   September 9, 2008

I upgraded to this camera from my older Powershot A510 (stolen). It's better in every way. MUCH faster, good battery life, awesome pictures, unbelievable zoom, and image stabilization (I got soooo many fuzzy pictures with the A510 -- not anymore!). It's definitely not compact (fills up my entire jeans pocket), but it takes infinitely better pictures than compact cameras. The software has also gotten much better, and you can finally play videos in ZoomBrowser. It's still not very good at extreme macro shots or low light conditions; but I'm not a pro photographer either, so I rarely mess with the settings. BTW, GREAT bang for the buck.
Hope this helps you gather information!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Camera   September 7, 2008
Joshua D. Ashby (Newport News, VA USA)
For my first digital camera I wanted something that I could take pictures with on the fly as well as something with settings that I could play with. I know the basics about changing shutter speeds and other settings of that nature, but this is the first camera with which I've actually been able to manipulate to see what the effects are. Thus far I have been extremely satisfied with the results that I have seen in my images and am blown away with the clarity of a really good shot -which I seem to be able to get many of. As of 250+ shots, I am pleased.
