Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Simply set the 10.1-megapixel DMC-FS5 to iA mode and let the four Intelligent Auto functions team up to help prevent shooting errors. Intelligent Scene Selector chooses the mode that best fits the situation; MEGA Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.) helps prevent blurring from hand-shake; Intelligent ISO Control helps prevent motion blur; and Face Detection helps produce clear portraits by optimizing the focus and exposure settings. The 30mm wide-angle Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens with 4x optical zoom takes wider shots than an ordinary 35mm lens. This is helpful in small rooms or crowded places, for example, letting you fit more people into a group photo. There's also an Easy Zoom button on the camera top - just press it, and the optical zoom and Extra Optical Zoom instantly extend to full telescopic position. This quick zooming lets you catch even fleeting opportunities. The brightness and contrast of the large 2.5" diagonal LCD adjust automatically in 10 steps as ambient light conditions change, so images are clear, bright and easy to see day or night, indoors or outdoors. f=5.2-20.8mm (35mm Equiv. - 30-120mm) Focal Length 2.5 Diagonal Polycrystalline TFT LCD Display (230K dots) Focusing Area Normal - Wide 50cm/ Tele 100cm - infinity, Macro / Intelligent AUTO - Wide 10cm / Tele 100cm - infinity 8 - 1/2,000 sec. 5 out of 5 stars Super, Super!   January 6, 2009

Light weight, super zoom for a small pocket camera, great iA mode which is fabulous if you are taking pictures of active kids like me, nice large screen on the back, buttons easy to work. Great buy overall if you are looking for a good quality lense in a small camera.

4 out of 5 stars Nice, but has problems in low light.   January 6, 2009

This camera is nice because of all the manual features, but in low light conditions it takes dark pics.

5 out of 5 stars AWESOME   January 6, 2009

I have purchased many cameras over time, but this camera is by far the best! The picture quality is amazing. When I take the pictures and have them developed, I've been asked on several occasions if they were taken by a professional. This camera is awesome and the price isn't bad either!

5 out of 5 stars Great photos!!   December 27, 2008

I love this camera. The quality of the photos is fantastic. The way the camera captures the photo even if my hands are moving is fantastic. Rarely a blurred shot. It seems to grab the image and hold it still! Nice big 2.5 inch LCD screen too. Very easy to use. I bought another one for a friend. I've had Canoncameras before and really liked the photo quality but the Leica lense on this camera is just as good..to my eye. I do a lot of photo art work....turning photos into note cards etc and I'm very satisfied with the photo quality. So much bang for my buck and now that these digital cameras are so small....it's easy to keep it in my purse.
